'Department - this is Frank Wills - Code-Nr 5-4-7-3.'

'Break incident on the second underground parking deck.'

'No, I didn't see anyone.'

'At the beginning of my tour I discovered an open door - the lock was taped.'

'There was no one there - that's why I removed the tape and went further on.'

'After my tour, I passed the door again - that was just two minutes ago.'

'The tape is back!'

  • On June 17th, 1972 the security guard Frank Wills discovers a tape on the lock of an open hotel door, which was supposed to be closed and locked.
  • The police can arrest five men (on the sixth floor of the hotel) as a consequence of the telephone call.
  • At the trial a connection to the CIA is laid open for one of the five defendants. The journalist Bob Woodward gets suspicious and together with his colleague Carl Bernstein and the secret CIA informant 'Deep Throat' the background of the crime is uncovered.
  • This incident is afterwards known as the 'Watergate-affair' which is the largest political scandal an U.S. President ever has been involved.
