What's that?
Hmmm, hard to say - some abstract figures on a shopping tour?
Aaaah - almost right – 2nd winner!
I have reshaped and drawn the name-cartridge of a (egypt) pharaoh (these are a lot of small stones).
The figures are the hieroglyphics of the word 'Ramses'.
Why 'Ramses' - there are much better sounding egyptian names?
Well, 'Ramses' is probably the most important name for our modern understanding of the Egyptian culture:
For an artist the Egyptian hieroglyphic-writing is fascinating, because there are many individual pictures.
The meaning of these small pictures were forgotten over the centuries and got lost. Even 200 years ago, no one could read these tokens.
The knowledge of the ancient script was completely gone...
1822 the French researcher 'Jean Francois Champollion' succeeded in deciphering the hieroglyphs.
This was only possible because of a name-cartridge, which was present on a hewn stone in hieroglyph-tokens and also written in Greek - 'Ramses'.
By the way...
When drawing, this time, I was able to intensively dive into the subject.
During the drawing I heard 'Egyptian' music and had inner-bike-tubes wrapped around me, to look like a mummy
