Ng Mui (Whing Chun) = comic drawing

April.06.2014      DIN-A5      8.3 x 5.8 inch

Description

Near a riverbank slowly the Shaolin nun wakes up.

'What's that squeaking and hissing? - It's coming from over there'.

'Oh - a crane is attacked by a fox!'

'The bird is fighting back with short circular wing movements and then ejects straight with the beak to attack the fox.'

The nun thoughtfully mimics the crane’s movements with her arms.

Faster and faster the half-circles and strokes are executed.

Full of excitement, she begins to smile.

Legend

The Shaolin nun 'Ng Mui' (simplified pronunciation: Ing Mui) developed a fighting style, which she passes (in her later years) to the student 'Yim Wing Chun'.

It is said, that this was the starting point of the martial art 'Wing Chun'. In the 20th Century, master 'Yip Man' gave that knowledge to a very gifted student - 'Sai Fon' later (by his films) also known as 'Bruce Lee'.
