Mamsell

March.03.2014      DIN-A4      11.7 x 8.3 inch

Description

Germany – Manor-house - May 23, 1902 - Kitchen

'Babette, have you already made the beds of the ladies and gentlemen?'

'Marie-Etienne, tell the stable boy, he should put on more fire-coals.'

'Yvonne, no, oh my goodness, not like that - the turnover should be folded lengthwise.'

'Oh, you make me crazy, the first guests are here in about 4 hours and we are nearly as far as this morning - go, go, hurry!'

Around 1900 the 'Mamsell' was the central person for kitchen and household in superscript town houses with several servants.

She was in command and also had the responsibility for the operation sequence, both on normal days and on festival days with numerous guests.

Presumably the 'Mamsells' often were close to burnout

Steps

I inverted the original picture (on the computer) into a bright version and with that I made the bright drawing. After that I scanned the drawing and inverted it on the computer.

First I show the 'real' drawing on the paper and then the steps.

The pre-drawing and the black shadows are only minimal, so I'll spare them and put the inverted images side by side.
